Do I Have to Publish or File a New York Will?

When a will is made in New York, there is no requirement to publish it or file it anywhere. There is, however, an option of filing the will with the clerk of the Surrogate’s Court for safekeeping. When it is time to use the will, it will have to be filed with the court to be “activated” and for the executor to be appointed.
